This feels counterintuitive to write about before anything else I have in queue, but tonight I was informed that Slift is releasing a new album, and why wait?

They already have a song up to hear now (“A Storm of Wings”). It is, of course, good and acceptable and familiar if you’ve heard Slift before. If not: heavy, mildly psychedelic, but not too stonery rock. They’re very approachable. If you like any breed of heavy rock music these days, you won’t have an issue giving them a listen.
It feels like it’s so soon from the last album – which I’m still listening to – but looking at the actual calendar, it’s been over two years and will be close to 30 months at time of release, and that’s a pretty fair album cycle for an active band that isn’t doling out sixteen EPs a year. Funnily enough, they released the last one just before I found out I’d be moving where I live now, a place that allowed for a track change from the shitty place(s) I was heading, so there’s a poetic vibe of me creating this site with the intention for fresh novelty now at this very similar news for them again. Hopefully what I just wrote made sense because I don’t know how else to phrase it. Two whole-ass years here, soon. Wow.
Anyway, I’m going to go ponder why the Bandcamp embed didn’t work out now. If you ever read this, enjoy the music update.
Funnily enough, right after I posted this I got an email informing me that Monolord’s brand new song went live. Quite a day for novelty, huh.
